Tummy Time

One of the main components of Lomi Lomi and KaHuna Massage is treating the belly.  We love to massage bellies. Well, I surely do.

Our tummies hold emotions, gut feelings, stress, anxiety, excitement and anticipation. We get butterflies and our digestion is all in there.  We can become bloated or hollow.  Our belly button (the Hara – Source of Life) is our life line to Mother and to life.  So much goes on in this area.  We cover two Chakras there.  One is our Solar Plexus Chakra (our I am/personal power) and the other is our Sacral Chakra (Intimacy / Creative Centre).

By massaging these areas, we can release old negative emotions.  We can energize our digestive systems.  This in turn will enable our creativity to get moving.  Trust our “gut” again!

On a structural level.  We have deep muscles that connect in there.  Psoas muscles often become really tight and pull our lower back, hips and quads.  By getting in deep into these areas on each side of your belly we can help to release these areas.

At this time in the world’s history it is imperative that we keep our immune levels high.  Vitamin D is an essential component of this.  Did you know that Vitamin D is fat soluble and the best source of it is from sunlight.  A lot of our fat cells are naturally in; you guessed it, our belly... So… get your belly out in the sunlight when you go for your walks.  I do! … well lucky for all I go walking up the back of Bimbadeen where not many people go past. J  Remember to wear a hat and you only need about 10-20 mins at a time.

Another hormone we develop in our bodies is Cortisol.  This is a stress hormone.  When we become anxious and/or stressed we go into our fight or flight response.  A by product, as we do not often physically go for a run after we are triggered is Cortisol which can develop as fat stores around our belly!  Massage can help to move this along with some deep breathing.

Our fur babies love having their tummies massaged. They know a good thing.
